Iron is important for women due to menstrual blood loss. Your body needs iron to make a protein in red blood cells and for growth & development including some hormones. Low iron can make you feel tired and weak. You skin might be paler and you’ll have dry or damaged skin and hair.
Transferrin saturation (TS) is a measure of how well iron is binding to your blood. If this count is low, you may feel check pain, headache, cold hands and feed, weakness, pale skin, brittle names and extreme tiredness.
Ferritin is a protein that contains iron. If you have a low count, you might not be absorbing iron from your food or you might have anaemia – a red blood cell condition where they’re just not enough of them.
