Test to Release - Day 5
What is the Test to Release scheme?
The Test to Release scheme is a voluntary test and can be done if you want to reduce your 10 day isolation period after arriving in England. You cannot take a test until you have been in England for 5 full days. Test to Release must be booked and paid for privately, via a private provider listed on the Government website.
You cannot use the Test to Release scheme if you have been in or through any country on the Travel Ban Red List in the last 10 days, before arrival in England.
You must still take Day 2 and Day 8 tests (unless exempt) and even if you get a negative Test to Release (Day 5) result, you still have to take a test on Day 8 to check that you do not have Covid-19 at this time.
How and when do I book a Test to Release?
You will need to book your test in advance before arriving in England. Please note our standard Covid-19 PCR test is not sufficient for a Test to Release and does not produce the certificate you require, you will need to book a Test to Release appointment if you are hoping to reduce your isolation time.
Please book online and complete the pre screening assessment on the booking form. A unique ID will be created for you after the booking has been completed. You will need to call our clinic to retrieve your unique ID, unfortunately this is not an automated process just yet. Example. You leave a country on Monday morning and arrive in England on Monday afternoon. Tuesday will be classed as your first full day of self-isolation. You can take a test no earlier than your 5th full day of self-isolation, which would be Saturday. You must continue to self-isolate while you await your test result.
Can I travel to your clinic for a Test to Release appointment?
If you live live in England and it is 5 or more days since your arrival you are only allowed to travel to our clinic if you currently don’t have any symptoms listed above.
Can I go on public transport to travel to my Test to Release?
You are advised not to use public transport to go to a Covid-19 test centre, however, it is not illegal to do so.
Do I still need to self-isolate whilst waiting for my test result?
Yes, you must continue to self-isolate until you have received a negative test result.
What if my Test to Release result is positive?
If you have not had symptoms of coronavirus, you must self-isolate for 10 days from your test date. If you have symptoms of coronavirus, you must self-isolate for 10 days from the day your symptoms started, if earlier than when you took your test.
People you live with or are travelling with should also self-isolate for 10 days from the day you took a test. You may be contacted for contact tracing to check that you, and those who you live or are travelling with, are self-isolating. You must not travel, including to leave the UK, during self-isolation.
Contact 111 if you need medical help. In an emergency dial 999.
What if my Test to Release result is negative?
If you receive a negative Covid-19 test result when taking part in the Test to Release programme, you may stop self-isolating.
What if my Test to Release result is inconclusive?
If your test is inconclusive, you would be required to take another test as it is not possible to say if you had the virus at the time the test was done. The Regenerative Clinic will manage this on a case by case basis, and aim to help provide a conclusive result.
You must, by law, continue self-isolating for the remainder of your self-isolation period.
